Call of Duty 4 Beta Kicking Off in the UK
It's here soon. Find out how you can get involved.
Activision sent out notice on Thursday that the multiplayer beta test for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will open in the UK on Friday, 7 September.
To get into the beta, you'll need to visit www.cod4beta.co.uk (not working yet as we write this) where you'll find out how to get a token for early access.
The creators of the game say they're hoping to make this the "best multiplayer experience ever". Just the thought of that has driven some people who were denied access to take matters into their own hands.
Xbox-Scene reports that Microsoft has sent out an internal memo saying that the company is planning to hand out 24-hour bans to around 23,000 Xbox Live users who took advantage of a software glitch to force their way into the beta test without a token.
"This is not a permanent console ban," reads the memo. "It's more of a 'slap on the wrist' and a warning to these 23k users who used this exploit."
We contacted Microsoft to verify the message but the company did not get back to us.
