UK Xbox 360 Sales Triple After Price Cut
And the release of the Elite probably helped too.
As price drops go, the recent trimming of the prices of both current versions of the Xbox 360 wasn't all that substantial, but it seems that it was enough to get Britons into stores anyway.
During the week that Microsoft introduced the Xbox 360 Elite and dropped the price of the Premium from £280 to £250 and the Core from £200 to £180, cumulative sales of the console rose by 260 per cent, according to figures from Chart Track reported by MCV.
That's good news for Microsoft, which is looking to grow the Xbox 360 audience as quickly as possible. In just three weeks the company is finally taking the wraps off its new shooter, Halo 3 - an event that promises to rival the record-setting opening of the previous game.
Halo 3 is out in the UK on 26 September. But you likely won't need a reminder. Microsoft is planning to spend around £4 million promoting the game, according to MCV.
