Mercenaries 2 Delayed to 2008
EA's high-octane sequel joins the year-end exodus.
This Christmas is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet but quite a few big games have lately slipped past the holiday season. EA and developer Pandemic have added to that black list, saying their new Mercenaries game will not make it out this year as planned.
Speaking to IGN last week, Pandemic's Josh Resnick said the retailer release date changes for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames that preceded the news were spot on. "The retailer genies have done it again, and I can officially confirm that Mercenaries 2 is set for release early next year," he said.
Resnick said the delay came from a desire to give Mercenaries fans the best game Pandemic could deliver.
Though the game will now have a few more months in development, Resnick said that Pandemic is not planning to add any new features to the game. He also brushed off suggestions that the game would come under undue pressure from Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV, which was also recently delayed to 2008.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be out for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 in early 2008.
