Sex Pistols Reunite for Guitar Hero III
Johnny Rotten and the gang get back into the studio for the guitar game.
For a measure of how popular music games have become, all you need to do is look at the number of big-name bands and musicians clamouring to get in to the latest Guitar Hero game.
Joining the ranks in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock are infamous British punks The Sex Pistols, who, nearly three decades after they transformed the British musical landscape, are coming together to offer their unique sound to Activision and Neversoft's new music game.
The Six Pistols were asked by Activision to re-record Anarchy in the UK and another song after the company failed to find the original multi-tracks. That drew the original line-up of John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon, Steve Jones and Paul Cook back into the studio with original producer Chris Thomas, using vintage equipment from the time to keep that authentic sound.
Jones, the original drummer in the band, said he wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, "but it actually turned out great and I think everyone held their own".
The Sex Pistols join a growing list of musicians and bands who are getting more hands-on for Guitar Hero III. Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash, Poison frontman Brett Michaels and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello have all been included in the game as characters.
