Blue Dragon Swoops Onto the DS
Another Xbox 360 exclusive makes its way on to Nintendo's dominating portable.
A couple years back, before the Xbox 360 launched, Microsoft made much of its then-new relationship with Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and his Mistwalker development team. The first offspring of that union, Blue Dragon, was recently released on Xbox 360, to something of a ho-hum reception. To give the game another chance at success, Mistwalker is bringing it to the DS.
In Japan, Blue Dragon for the DS will be published in March 2008 already, according to Wired, meaning the game has been in the works for some time. It's being worked on by Feelplus, the same Japanese developer that's currently working with Mistwalker on Sakaguchi's other Xbox 360 RPG, Lost Odyssey.
It seems a strange move at first, putting an Xbox 360 exclusive on the DS, but it's not the first time.
In late July, Microsoft confirmed rumours that it is working on a DS version of its family-friendly creature rearing game Viva Pinata.
Among the changes for Viva Pinata DS is a new top-down gameplay perspective. None of the parties involved in the DS version of Blue Dragon have yet revealed any specifics about the portable version of the game.
