Nintendo Quiet on Animal Crossing MMO
It seems logical enough, but there's still no confirmation from Nintendo on the matter.
Along with Brain Training and New Super Mario Bros, Animal Crossing: Wild World has been one of the most popular games on the DS. Nintendo is working on a new game in the series for the Wii, and a report out this week says that game will be a massively multiplayer online game.
According to Edge, the Animal Crossing game coming to the Wii will be an "MMO/social networking title", expanding on the communication features that already feature heavily in Animal Crossing: Wild World.
While such a concept would be a logical follow-on to the work already done for the DS, Nintendo has so far refused to comment directly on the matter.
Approached for comment, a spokesperson for Nintendo would only say of the report that "it's pure rumour and speculation - nothing has been officially announced."
Animal Crossing: Wild World was released on DS in Europe in March 2006 and it's been one of the best selling games on the system ever since, with more than 4 million copies sold worldwide.
