Metal Gear Solid 4 Skips PS3 This Winter
Extra time needed to get that shine just right.
It took just 116 words for Konami to crush the dreams of PlayStation 3 owners and would-be owners around the world this week, the company saying on Wednesday that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will not be out this winter as planned.
"Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide," part of the statement reads.
This extra time in development means that the game won't be out until the second quarter of 2008.
It's not clear if any particular part of the game is causing developer Kojima Productions problems. Representatives for the company echoed the official line, saying that it comes down to polishing the experience.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is generally regarded as one of the biggest games coming to the PS3, not only because it's the first game in the best-selling series on any of the new consoles but also because it's coming only for Sony's new system.
The game delves into the world of private armies, with lead character Snake deployed to a futuristic battlefield and forced to choose sides.
Konami said it would give out more details about the game's release "as soon as possible".
