Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend in November
Find out if it's worth signing up for Microsoft's full service.
It's a busy time of year if you're an Xbox 360 owner and Microsoft is looking to make sure you get the full experience out of all those games, including online play. And that means it's time for another free Xbox Live weekend.
Microsoft has sent information out to its community sites announcing that it is planning to offer a free weekend of Xbox Live Gold-level access later this month, from 23-26 November, during Xbox Live Xtival '07.
Over those 72 hours, all Xbox 360 owners will be able to enjoy the benefits of the paid-for Xbox Live Gold service, including online play against other Xbox 360 owners.
Xbox Live Gold membership usually sells for anything from £4.99 a month up to £39.99 for a year of access.
Microsoft has taken some criticism for sticking with its two levels of access to Xbox Live, especially since rivals Sony and Nintendo have no price barriers to their online services.
Around the world, around 7 million people are Xbox Live members, but Microsoft has never broken that down into Silver and Gold members. Both levels include the community features of Xbox Live but only Gold members are able to play against other Xbox 360 owners online.
