Simpsons Trail Football Stars on Charts
And Hellgate: London gets off to a slow start too.
Two decades of TV presence can do a lot to make a family known but it wasn't enough to help the The Simpsons Game top the usual raft of football games for chart victory.
The best Homer and family could manage was a third place finish and for the second week in succession Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has not only taken the No. 1 spot but also held back longtime rival FIFA. Sales for Pro Evo were down by half over last week. The PlayStation 2 was again the most popular format for the game.
Outside of The Simpsons Game, there were only two other new games that managed to make it onto the Top 40 chart this week. Retooled time-bending shooter TimeShift debuted at No. 24 and Hellgate: London, the latest game from Diablo creator Bill Roper, came in even lower, at No. 34.
Both of Nintendo's Brain Training for the DS have jumped back into the Top 10, thanks to a new advertising campaign starring Nicole Kidman, Patrick Stewart and several UK celebrities.
