Crysis Comes in Threes
Crytek talks about the future of the PC shooter.
EA and Far Cry developer Crytek's new hardware-punishing shooter, Crysis, hit stores over the weekend and some people have made it through the game already. In a recent online chat with fansite InCrysis, one of them asked Crytek chief executive, Cevat Yerli, about the game's ending.
A user named Robersdee asked Yerli why the game seemed to end so abruptly, and in answering the question Yerli revealed that shooter fans have a lot more to look forward to.
"The game is designed as a trilogy, so you have two more installments to come and the ending is planned deliberately," Yerli said. "I cannot answer any more questions here please as we want to keep some surprises for you all."
Until now Crytek has said little about more in the Crysis universe, and this is the first word from the creators that they are thinking long-term for the series.
Yerli also said that Crytek is working on the first patch for the game, which he implied would be available before 29 November.
Crysis tells a near-future story of man-versus-aliens. When a massive asteroid slams into North Korea, America sends in a team to investigate, a situation that quickly turns into a battle against alien invaders.
There has been persistent talk of a version of the game coming to consoles, but Crytek has mostly sidestepped the issue, saying only that, hypothetically, any potential console port would be quite different from the game on PC.
