Download-Only Syphon Filter for the PSP
Multiplayer expansion allows user-generated content sharing and more.
Sony's Syphon Filter has been enjoying critical and popular success on the PSP in recent years, bringing the best of the stealth-action series to the portable. The company is adding to the series this month in Syphon Filter: Combat Ops, a new game that will only be available as a download from the PlayStation Store.
Calling Syphon Filter: Combat Ops a new instalment in the series might be going a bit far. There's no new story mode in the game, which is best described as a multiplayer-only expansion pack to the recent PSP outings.
The biggest new feature in Combat Ops is user-generated content.
PSP owners will be able to modify maps from Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow and the missions played on them and then share them online. The maps will support eight-way multiplayer either on local networks or over the internet.
Syphon Filter: Combat Ops is available only as a download from the PlayStation Store and is out now in the US. We contacted Sony to find out when it would be available in the UK but the company didn't get back to us.
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow is out this week in the UK.
