Codemasters Puts Race Driver on the GRID
First screens for the new game from the creators of Race Driver and Colin McRae: DiRT.
Racing has become boring, or so the creators of Codemasters' Race Driver: GRID seem to think, but the team has plans to "make racing exciting again".
How? Race Driver: GRID, the final name of a game announced as Race Driver One, is a new driving game from the creators of Colin McRae: DiRT and the Race Driver series.
GRID promises a wealth of options, giving players the opportunity to race on tracks, in cities and even to take to specialist courses such as those used for drifting in Japan.
Expect a sizable stable of car manufacturers to choose from, a list that already includes the likes of Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani.
Powering the game is a new version of the lauded engine that powered this summer's Colin McRae: DiRT.
"Damage, packed grids, intelligent opposition and unprecedented race day atmosphere will combine to deliver an experience like no other," says Gavin Raeburn, producer on the game at Codemasters.
Race Driver: GRID is coming for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime around the middle of 2008.
