Call of Duty 5 Re-Enlisting in World War II?
We know it's coming, now there are hints that Activision has handed the series back to Treyarch.
Activision has hosted an interesting game of musical chairs in its top-rated shooter series Call of Duty over the past few years, and now it looks like the game is sitting down at its second developer again.
After original developer Infinity Ward returned to bring the series to the future in this autumn's well-received Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, there's talk that Call of Duty 5 will again be developed by interim developer Treyarch - and that it will again take place during World War II.
The speculation is the result of a new job ad listed on Activision's site, which calls for people interested in working on a Call of Duty game at developer Treyarch.
The ad asks for developers experienced in making shooters, adding that "if you're a fan of World War 2 shooters, then even better!" Activision is also looking for a producer and an associate producer to work on a Call of Duty game.
Call of Duty 5 has yet to be formally announced by Activision, but the company did reveal that it's working the game, mentioning it specifically in a press release accompanying the recent announcement of its merger with Vivendi.
We contacted Activision for clarification but representatives for the company could not confirm or deny any details.
