New Blizzard MMO in the Works
Community manager gets tongues wagging.
The massive success of online RPG behemoth World of Warcraft means that when developer Blizzard talks about doing another game, people listen.
Following a job notice on the company's board, speculation on the official World of Warcraft forums pointed variously to all of Blizzard's past franchises as the possible target franchise.
One poster wondered whether the new hire would simply be adding hands to work on World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, the next expansion for the massively multiplayer game, and that prompted a response from a Blizzard employee:
"No, it [the new project] is an unannounced Next-Gen MMO," Drysc, a Blizzard community manager, wrote, adding: "And that doesn't mean an expansion for World of Warcraft either."
So the question is, if it's not World of Warcraft, what is it? That's something Blizzard has yet to address.
Blizzard has already confirmed that it's working on a sequel to real-time strategy icon StarCraft.
