First Glimpse of BioWare's Sonic RPG
Hand draw designs, turn-based battles and a spotlight for Eggman. Details inside.
One of the surprises of 2007 was the news that BioWare, the lauded studio behind RPG hits such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, was teaming up with Sega on a new RPG starring Sonic. The latest issue of US magazine Nintendo Power has the first details for the DS game.
According to a synopsis posted on NeoGAF, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood will combine a unique look and a darker tone than players may expect.
The game will play out over two acts - one taking place in levels inspired by past Sonic levels and another with a distinctly darker tone. Helping to convey the mood of the game is a unique art style that makes extensive use of hand drawings.
The game features 11 characters from the Sonic universe, and early screen shots suggest that three or four will be playable at any particular time. Among the cast members are series mainstays such as Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Shadow, and the team has starring roles for others too, including Big The Cat and longtime baddie Eggman.
Sega has yet to formally announce the game but it's only a matter of time until the company offers more details.
