UK Game Sales Continue to Slide
For Call of Duty 4, though, it's a sweet ride.
During the first full week of 2008 it was war that was preoccupying Britons. The latest stats from research firm Chart Track show Activision's modern day shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare clambering back to the top of the pile.
The numerical victory for Activision is however blighted somewhat by the annual post-Christmas slowdown. All of the top places this week are down significantly over last week, with sales for FIFA 08, coming in at No. 2, falling by half. The Simpsons Game, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 are all down sharply too.
New blood is on the way though. EA is putting a final coat of wax on its new driving game, Burnout Paradise, which arrives for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this month. Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 is also due for both consoles early in February.
