Assassin's Creed Prequel Targets DS
More adventures in the Holy Land with Altair. First screens
The open ending to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed leaves no doubt that the publisher has much more in store for the series, likely entailing new time periods and characters. For now, though, those who want to experience more of Altair's adventures can look forward to a prequel coming to the DS later this year.
The story in Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles predates the console version, fleshing out the assassin's background in a new prequel game.
Precise details are hard to come by but Ubisoft has said that the story will delve into Altair's "deep history". The game is said to take place over four cities in the Crusade's Middle East.
According to IGN, Altair's Chronicles is being developed by Gameloft. The game will include five-or-so weapons and feature touch-screen controls that allows players to pick-pocket targets.
Assassin's Creed was one of the biggest games of 2007. In December Ubisoft said it had sold 2.5 million copies in less than a month and it predicted it would sell as many as 5 million copies by the end of March.
Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles is coming only to the DS this February.
