Super Smash Bros Stuck in Development
The sure-to-be-big Wii game gets delayed in the US and Japan. European fate less certain.
Recent history is littered with evidence that when it comes to games Nintendo would rather deliver the best experience possible rather than stick to arbitrary release dates. That said, this week's delay of Super Smash Bros Brawl will still sting some fans.
In a posting on Nintendo's Japanese site on Tuesday, the company said that the Japanese release date for the Wii game has been pushed back to 31 January.
That's having a knock-on effect in the US, where Nintendo representatives admitted that the game was taking "slightly longer than expected", according to a statement posted by Wired. As a result, the game will only be out in the US on 9 March.
Whether this will have any effect on the release of the game in Europe is unknown.
Nintendo has not yet confirmed when the game will be out in Europe and company representatives said that they could not say what effect this would have on the game's eventual release in the region.
