EU Fate of Metal Gear Collection Undecided
Catch up on the series before the big one arrives. At least, if you're in the US.
With Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3 thought to be just months away from release now, buzz is starting to build around the long-awaited game. For those looking to refresh their memories and rediscover the events leading up to this fourth game in the series, Konami has put together a collection of the previous games.
Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is a PlayStation 2 collection that includes the 1999 PlayStation original and also Metal Gears Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2002) and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater (2005). It will come wrapped in special packaging designed by Yoji Shinkawa, a long-time artist on the series.
Though The Essential Collection will satisfy those looking for an appetizer before the big PS3 game arrives, it pales in comparison with Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary: Metal Gear Solid Collection, a compendium of all the games in the series that was released in Japan in 2007.
There's a snag for Europeans too. Right now the game has so far only been confirmed for release in the US, where it will carry a budget price, and representatives for Konami contacted by Kikizo could not comment on whether or not the game would make it to Europe.
