Call of Duty, Orange Box Win Big in Vegas
Plus honours for Ken "Father of the PlayStation" Kutaragi.
The games world was in Las Vegas last week for the annual Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain Summit. A week of talks about the health of the industry was rounded off by the Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, handed out by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences for the 11th time.
There were special awards for some of the biggest names in games today, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for Sony's Ken Kutaragi, creator of the PlayStation.
Mike Morhaime, the man in charge at World of Warcraft creator Blizzard also got inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences's Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of Shigeru Miyamoto, Will Wright and EA founder Trip Hawkins.
The game awards were split between Game of the Year awards and others for Outstanding Achievement. The big winner on the night was Activision and Infinity Ward's recent shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which earned four awards, including the big one for Overall Game Of The Year.
Also picking up four awards was The Orange Box, EA and Valve's compilation of Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 and its episodic sequels.
