Portal Sequel in Development
And the original is grabbing honours in San Francisco too.
Portal was one of the most popular games in 2007, outclassing, in many people's minds, the rest of the games included in Valve's Orange Box - no mean feat when that includes Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. So what do you do when you've won over the gaming world? You give people more, of course.
Speaking with US TV channel G4 at this week's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Portal lead designer Kimberley Swift confirmed that the team is already at work on Portal 2.
Swift was brief in her confirmation, however, not going further than to say the game is coming. Her comments backed up those from Valve's Doug Lombardi, who earlier this year said that Portal fans could expect more in the series, in some form.
Portal has earned drawn critical and public acclaim and earned several awards based on its innovative gameplay, which asks players to solve ever-harder puzzles using wormhole-like portals that warp space.
The game was a big winner at this week's Game Developers Choice Awards, earning awards for game of the year, best design and innovation.
