God of War, Metal Gear Bundles for US Only
Time to consider importing if you really need a red, Kratos-style PSP.
Sony representatives on Wednesday confirmed that the company has no plans to bring the God of War: Chains of Olympus and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots> hardware bundles recently announced for the US to Europe.
Writing at PlayStation.Blog, Al De Leon of SCEA, Sony's North America arm, revealed the two bundles that will be released in the US over the coming months.
The new PSP pack includes God of War: Chains of Olympus, comedy hit Superbad on UMD, a voucher to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops from the PlayStation Store, and, the main attraction, a red PSP adorned with the visage of lead character Kratos.
This bundle will cost $199 and is out in the US in June, some months after release next week of the standalone game, on 4 March.
Also due around the end of spring is the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots PS3 Bundle.
The pack, out in the US in "late Q2" (read: June) for $500, includes the game, an 80 GB PlayStation 3 and Sony's new PlayStation 3 controller, the DualShock 3.
"In response to incredible demand, we will be manufacturing more 80 GB PS3s for North America and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 80 GB PS3 bundle is an ideal way to offer that continued value to our consumers," Sony's Jack Tretton said in a statement.
A representative for Sony in Europe told Kikizo that the company currently has "no plans to release either of these in Europe". No specific reason was given for the decision.
