Sega Saves the World in RPG Alpha Protocol
New modern-day RPG from the creators of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II.
The role-playing game genre is overrun with games entrenched in the trappings of fantasy. Not so for Alpha Protocol, the new game from Sega and veteran RPG studio Obsidian.
In modern-day RPG Alpha Protocol, players get inside the head of Michael Thorton, an agent forced out of his position in the government but who is compelled to use his foreknowledge of looming disaster to help his fellow citizens.
The game offers players several ways to achieve their objectives, according to teaser information from US magazine Game Informer, which is debuting the game in its latest issue.
Players will be able to go in guns-blazing and fight their way through to their goals, or they can take a more subdued route, putting more emphasis on staying in the shadows. There is also the promise of high-tech gadgets, which Michael will be able to use in his mission.
Alpha Protocol is the latest project by Californian design studio Obsidian, the creators of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Neverwinter Nights 2.
Feargus Urquhart, head of Obsidian, says the game "blends Obsidian's knack for intricate stories, engrossing characters, and significant character advancement with fast-paced modern combat".
Alpha Protocol is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime during 2009. For more on the game, visit www.alphaprotocol.com.
