Xbox 360 Nears Double-Platinum in the UK
Microsoft is still holding a substantial lead over the PlayStation 3 - in the UK at least.
Sony is still coming off the high of passing the 1-million-sold mark for the PlayStation 3 in February, but Microsoft's head-start over Sony's console is still standing firm.
Chart Track, a research firm, told GamesIndustry.biz that it is expecting sales of the Xbox 360 to surpass 2 million in the coming week.
"The Xbox 360 is extremely well liked in the UK and very strong. Sony has a long way to go to overtake it in the UK," Chart Track's Dorian Bloch told GamesIndustry.biz.
Sales of the Xbox 360 were boosted in March when Microsoft dropped the price of all three models of the Xbox 360.
Block told Kikizo that the Xbox 360 is also on the verge of overtaking its predecessor.
"The original Xbox did a little more than that in the UK over its life, but not a huge amount more," he said.
