Content publisher unveils growth strategy with launch of new destination for Blu-ray Disc movie reviews, news and features
LONDON, UK and HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 20, 2009) - Kikizo Ltd, publisher of the long-established Kikizo.com video games website, today announced expansion of the Kikizo Network into broader entertainment space with the launch of BlurayDaily.com.
The new destination is aimed at avid film enthusiasts and fans of the cutting-edge Blu-ray movie format - one of the fastest-growing, most desirable audiences in consumer entertainment today.
The launch marks the beginning of Kikizo's new growth strategy to create entertainment and gaming related destinations, which address valuable gaps in the market and unite communities that are of key interest to media buyers and brand advertisers.
Kikizo director Adam Doree said: "Blu-ray is a great opening example of our strategy as it's a valuable, high disposable income demographic, and an area we think is undercatered to online with only a small handful of existing competitors - and almost none who are focused solely on Blu-ray."
"We already have dedicated brand campaigns booked for the site, which shows the hunger in the advertiser market. The growth rate of Blu-ray is faster than DVD's was, despite the current economic climate - and thanks to the shrinking cost of Blu-ray players and HDTV displays, Blu-ray is now becoming a mass-market proposition."
The gaming connection is clear: "A lot of PlayStation 3 owners bought the console because of its Blu-ray playback feature. BlurayDaily.com allows us to reach an exciting new movie audience, while also better servicing our PlayStation readers."
The new site is headed by Hollywood-based filmmaker and long-time Kikizo associate Carl Johnson.
Doree commented: "Carl has worked with us ever since we launched a fine Nintendo website many years ago. Just as his passion for Nintendo made him editor of that site back in 2000, in 2009 he's the obvious choice for this launch: Blu-ray is his new Nintendo."
Carl designed the editorial goals for BlurayDaily.com, promising daily content that reflects the staff's obsession with Blu-ray movies: "Like Smack to a junkie, a fresh new Blu-ray Disc is just the fix we need", said Johnson, "and it's our hope that BlurayDaily.com becomes THE high definition crack den for the masses."
"Every title we review will come complete with timecode references for quotes and scenes, and a photo gallery detailing what the packaging looks like in the real world, inside and out. Our review system is a little outside the norm, including all the scoring categories you'd expect but with the addition of a BIAS paragraph, exposing the individual reviewer's personal prejudice. Our final rating is beautifully simple and self-explanatory. Avoid, Consider, Rent, Buy, or Treasure - the latter reserved only for discs that are truly deserving."
Blu-ray Daily is also built with reader interactivity and community in mind, whether it's user comments, in the Blu-ray forum, submitting custom artwork covers or reader reviews.

Kikizo obsessively brings the games industry's biggest names and brands into gamers' homes with breaking news and market leading interviews from the frontline - for example, it's currently the only consumer gaming site in the world to have interviewed all three platforms' global bosses: Satoru Iwata, Kaz Hirai & Robbie Bach.
Kikizo reaches a combined audience of over two million enthusiast and casual gamers per month (Hitslink/comScore) across Kikizo.com and a mix syndication partners including AOL, for a product that's as beneficial to game publishers as it is to gamers.
In 2009, Kikizo unveiled FlytrapGames.com, a new casual gaming site launched in partnership with AOL, followed by BlurayDaily.com, a Blu-ray movies site dedicated to one of entertainment's fastest growing and most valuable audiences. Further site launches are also in the pipeline.
Based in London's Leicester Square, Kikizo Ltd has separate sales teams in London and Los Angeles.
