Tonk Hawk's Downhill Jam
Did they come up with a decent way to play Wii?

Everything about this game comes across as simplified in some way - tricks are idiot-proof and require little to no skill on the part of the player (a blessing for me personally, but annoying nonetheless), and using the same button for grab tricks and jumping just doesn't work - it causes confusion, annoyance and slows your racer down too much.
This over-simplification of a solid formula makes Downhill Jam feel hollow and is indicative of the general quality of the game. Don't get me wrong - it's fun, and can provide some good laughs, but the fact of the matter is the depth of the experience doesn't stretch past constantly repeating the same tracks over and over.
"Sound is solid, with some nice Wiimote speaker effects and a playlist that frankly destroys Project 8's."

Voice acting is of a notably decent standard too, with all the wacky characters (and Tony himself) coming across surprisingly naturally and providing a few giggles along the way, though repetition - as with all aspects of the game - soon sets in.
Downhill Jam is worth a rental, maybe picking up on the cheap, but otherwise stick with the far superior (slowdown or nay) Project 8 - Neversoft know what they're doing, after all. And hopefully they'll come up with a more inspired use of the Wii control scheme.
Tony Hawks' Downhill Jam is a hollow and unfulfilling experience, akin to a pie with no filling. Now honestly - what sick bastard would make a pie with no filling?! But I digress... It's fun, but it's not worth investing a lot of time in.
