OutRun 2006: First Console Screens!

As OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast gets confirmed for Xbox, we've dug up 12 console screenshots and 10 PSP shots!

As many of you know, Kikizo has something of a soft spot for Sega's OutRun series, so it was with great delight that we learned about Sega's recent announcement of OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast. The follow-up is coming to PlayStation 2, PC and PSP, and is now officially confirmed for Xbox as well.

Now, we've dug up the very first screenshots of the console version, which we're pretty sure is the Xbox version, along with the first pics of the delicious PSP version.

The console version of OutRun 2006 looks sweet!

OutRun 2006 includes the original game's 15 cousres, and adds 15 stunning new ones, as first seen in last year's arcade sequel, OutRun 2 SP: Special Tours (see our hands-on from 2004 here).

This arcade follow-up's new courses are all based on real locations throughout America, including Las Vegas, Niagra Falls, San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge and New York with landmarks like Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. There's even a rocket launch themed course that sees you drive all the way into outer space.

The new courses look absolutely beautiful, with even more detail than first seen in the original game (particularly flying about in the sky, with cameos like the After Burner jet even making an appearance), while new touches such as slipstreaming, better audio effects and tweaked difficulty make for an even more thrilling experience than OutRun 2 offered. The upcoming OutRun 2006 includes all 30 courses from both games.

And the PSP version looks... cute!

The Xbox version will obviously be sensational judging by the arcade-perfect conversion of the first game, and we're excited about seeing what the PS2 version will be like as well. Meanwhile the PC version is sure to be tight and the PSP edition looks rather cute as well.
