Mario 128 & Wind Waker 2 Escape 2004
Nintendo of America has announced its 2004 schedule, but E3 hopefuls Mario 128 and Wind Waker 2 are nowhere to be seen. Plus - F-Zero 2 three months early in Europe!
NOA has released its 2004 release schedule for the North American market, showing that GameCube owners can look forward to an excellent year with titles like Metroid Prime 2 hitting towards the end of the year, while GBA fans can look forward to Mario vs. Donkey Kong in May, and F-Zero 2 in September.
Incidentally, Nintendo Europe today announced that F-Zero 2 (or F-Zero: GP Legend as it will be called in the territory) will be released on June 4th, three months before the American release in September, where it will go by the name of F-Zero: Legend of Falcon. This indicates either a rare, massive lead time for a Nintendo European release, or suggests that NOA's list might see a couple of changes.
The list also confirms Paper Mario 2, revealed yesterday, for a US release towards the end of the year.
However, Mario 128 and Wind Waker 2 are nowhere to be seen on the schedule, despite NCL executives effectively promising both titles will be shown at E3 this May in one form or another.
Of course, this doesn't mean Nintendo's two most anticipated titles won't make it to Japanese shelves before the year is out.
Here is the complete list.
