Half-Life 2 Date Announced
In never rains in the world of games.
It was six years ago that gamers first picked up Gordon Freeman's crowbar in Half-Life and caused a revolution. Vivendi Universal Games announced Monday that the highly anticipated sequel, Half-Life 2, has ended its development cycle and is being prepped for a simultaneous worldwide release on 16 November.
Originally slated for release in September 2003, Half-Life 2 suffered a critical blow when developer Valve was hacked and source code for the game was stolen. Valve subsequently shelved release plans and went back to work fixing the game.
Half-Life 2 has been the subject of intense attention since its announcement, largely due to its realistic graphics, physics system and dynamic gameplay. Early reviews already peg Half-Life 2 as one of the finest PC games ever made.
