Mario Kart Bundled for UK Launch
But don't think you're going to be able to pick up the sweet red DS slated for the US. Full details.
Nintendo's announcement of a special Mario Kart DS-themed hardware bundle for the US meant that a similar announcement for Europe was inevitable. That came today, but those of you hoping to get your hands on one of those sleek red DSs are in for a disappointment.
Instead of the flaming red DS and racing decals included in the bundle in the US, the European Mario Kart pack will contain the game and a bog-standard silver DS.
Fear not, though, as instead of fancy exteriors, you'll be able to take solace in a hefty discount on the price tag. The game and DS bundle will set you back just £100 - £30 cheaper than buying them separately.
Mario Kart DS is getting a big push from Nintendo, not only because it's the next game in the popular driving series but also because it's the first game to make use of Nintendo's WiFi online gaming service.
In Japan and the US, Nintendo has signed agreements with Internet providers to give free WiFi access to DS owners. A similar deal is brewing in Europe, but Nintendo has yet to get into specifics.
You'll, of course, be able to go online using your home WiFi equipment, and if you don't have that, you'll be able to buy a USB WiFi dongle from Nintendo that'll let you go online using a wired connection on your PC.
Mario Kart DS and the accompanying bundle will be out in Europe on 25 November.
