Crysis: First Footage of Stunning New FPS
Essential viewing, in footage of possibly the best looking game ever made. Screens too.
Update: HD 720p Screens & Videos added here
German developer CryTek showed off the sequel to FarCry, Crysis, at GDC last week, and now we have a high quality cam video and a bunch of screens to show you.
The company line is that Crysis brings, "a new kind of gameplay challenge requiring adaptive tactics and customisation of weapons and armour in dynamic, hostile environments". We also know that the game is set during an alien invasion, marking a rather wide thematic departure from Far Cry.
The video shows of an exceptionally good graphics engine, utilising every new special trick in the book including dynamic range lighting and pixel shaders. Most impressive is the leaves and foliage, which blow around softly in the breeze and realistically react when someone brushes past them. It looks out of this world, and this video is essential viewing.
Stay tuned for more on Crysis.
