E3 to Bring Joy, Leave Unknowns

CNN thinks we'll be walking away from this year's show with a lot of question marks still floating about.

This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, running from 10-12 May in Los Angeles, is already drawing a lot of attention thanks to Sony's and Nintendo's plans to finally pull back some of the covers on their new consoles. But don't expect to find out everything right away.

Sony will be on the charge at its pre-show briefing on 8 May, showing off games and revealing specs for the PlayStation 3, but according to CNN Money columnist Chris Morris, it won't be saying how much the system will set you back, leaving many to cling in horror to Sony boss Ken Kutaragi's ominous declarations from last year that it's going to be expensive.

Over at Nintendo, which will host its briefing on 9 May, CNN expects much the same, with neither the launch date nor the price on the agenda. We will, however, finally learn what the final name (Ed's note: it was announced today. Check here) will be for the machine currently codenamed Revolution and hopefully uncover all the hardware secrets contained within.

To counter all this hardware news, Microsoft, already knee-deep in the next generation, will turn to games and in particular it'll show the first footage for Halo 3, says Morris. Gears of War and a sequel to Forza are also on the cards, as is a renewed emphasis on PC gaming thanks to the imminent arrival of Windows Vista.

Outside of the three hardware makers, though, there's still going to be plenty to get excited about, and Kikizo will be at the show all week to bring you the highlights.
