Sony Confirms PS3 Launch Date, Games
Eight weeks to go until the PS3 arrives and it's bringing nearly three-dozen games with it.

Does that mean the company won't be able to boast about a day-one sell-out? Possibly. The PSP had the most successful launch so far, selling just less than 190,000 units at its debut in September 2005, and the PlayStation 3 costs more than double what the PSP does.
If the price comes as something of a disappointment, the line-up of games for the launch period should not. Sony's European boss, David Reeves, called the roster the "strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation", and it's not hard to see why.
Between Sony and third-party publishers, the console will see 28 full games, including Resistance: Fall of Man, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Virtua Fighter 5. The PlayStation Network also kicks off with a handful of downloadable games, including flOw, a game that has been getting a lot of attention lately, and Tekken: Dark Resurrection.
Sony is also planning a firmware upgrade to "further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3" around the launch of the system.
