E3 2004: Eidos to Unveil Two New IPs
Eidos will unveil two completely fresh games at E3 next week. Details plus key line-up inside.
MCV today reveals that Eidos will lift the lid on two brand new titles at E3 next week - both of which are fresh IP.
One is described as an urban based action game featuring online play for up to sixteen players, for PS2 and Xbox. The other is a futuristing shooter for PS2, Xbox and PC.
The announced list of titles on show at the Eidos stand is as follows:
ShellShock: Nam '67 (PC, PS2, Xbox) - Developed by Guerrilla, the makers of Killzone, ShellShock: Nam '67 focuses on one man's experience of the most controversial war of modern times. You take on the role of a rookie soldier on his first tour of duty as he experiences the fear, chaos and atrocities of the Vietnam War. From the napalm bombardments of civilian villages and the gruesome VC (Viet Cong) boobytraps, to the permanent threat of invisible foes and deadly ambushes, Shellshock: Nam '67 dares to go where no other war game has gone.
Crash 'N' Burn (PS2, Xbox) - This racer, due out in autumn, sees players choose their car, paint it, polish it, and personalise it. Then build it up with new components, giant spoilers and reinforced fenders. Supercharge it, fill it with nitrous and then take it to the back street circuits of Miami, San Francisco, L.A. and New York. As Eidos puts it: "You're at the back of the pack, grid position sixteen with fifteen cars ahead of you, polished until they gleam. Your primary objective is to take first place; your secondary objective is to run everyone else off the road. Crunch them into the barrier, rip, shred and tear sheet metal from their frames, leave their burning engine blocks and melted tires in your wake."
Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood (PS2, Xbox) - There Goes The Neighborhood boasts an extensive list of new features including online play, a completely revamped wrestling and animation system and massively improved graphics. The implementation of the new 'Enviro-Mental' engine delivers an unprecedented level of interaction with environments, objects and non-player characters. Standing and ground-based submissions, multi-position grappling, a block button and an improved body part specific damage system all add to the carnage!
Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC, Xbox) - Developed by Ion Srorm, Thief 3 will allow gamers to play in a third person perspective for the first time in the series. Lead character Garrett will sneak through the roof top shadows and the City's sinister back streets stealing riches and ambushing unwary targets. While this third person perspective presents a new, visceral gaming experience, the classic Thief first person view is there for returning fans of the series and newcomers alike. Combined, these two views provide gamers with a greater control over their gaming experience adding more tension and atmosphere to the gameplay.
